The 604 KASU Newscast: 270 Arkansans File for Medical Marijuana Dispensary License

This is the 6:04 KASU newscast for Tuesday, September 19th.  Here are the stories reported this morning:

  • MARIJUANA DEADLINE:  Monday was the deadline for Arkansans to apply for a license to dispense and cultivate medical marijuana.  Scott Hardin, spokesman for the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration, told Member Station KUAR 270 applications have been filed, with about 170 submitted on Monday alone.
  • DISASTER:  Arkansas State University has signed leases with the cities of Walnut Ridge and Imboden for land to build disaster preparedness training facilities.  The multi-million dollar project is expected to draw 50 to 200 people a week to train at the facilities.
  • OVERDOSE DRUG-MISSOURI:  (by the Associated Press)  The News-Press reports Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers will now carry Narcan, an opioid overdose reversal medication, after receiving training.  It comes after Governor Eric Greitens signed an executive order allowing the medicine to be over-the-counter.
